MANUU Students Union’s “Jashn-e-Baharan” from tomorrow

Hyderabad:  Maulana Azad National Urdu University’s Students Union (MSU) is organizing cultural, literary & sports festival “Jashn-e-Baharan 2022” from June 24 to 28, 2022.

 According to the Convenor, MSU Advisory Committee, Dr. Mohd Yousuf Khan, Principal, MANUU Polytechnic Hyderabad various literary, cultural and sports competitions and activities will be held during the fest followed by a Job Fest on July 05.  Prof. Mohd Abdul Sami Siddiqui, Director, Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teacher is the chairman of the committee.

The opening ceremony will be held on June 24, 2022, 3.00 pm at Agha Hashar Kashmiri Auditorium at DDE, MANUU.

Dr. Viquar Unnisa, Provost, Girls Hostel and Dr. A Kaleemulla, Deputy Director, Directorate of Physical Education and Sports are the convenors for sports and games competitions under  which Athleties, Badminton, Carroms, Chess, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Volley Ball and Weight lifting competitions will be held at sports complex & play ground. Dr. Ahmad Khan, Director, Center for Urdu Culture Studies is the convener for literary activities – Bait Bazi, Essay writing, Elocution, Debate and Youth Parliament will be held. The convenors for Extra-Curricular Activities are Prof.  Karan Singh Utwal, Department of Hindi and Dr. Muzaffar Hussain Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Education & Training. Cultural Night, Food Fest, Job Fest Day, Poster Making, Painting, Mushaira and Qirat Competition are the part of extra-curricular activities.

The Job fest will be organized by Training and Placement Cell on July 5, 2022 from 10.00 am onwards. MANUU Students can register for Jashn-e-Baharan Job Fest Day 2022 on the school wise registration links are available on the University website

The MSU Office Bearers – Mohd Mursaleen, President, Md Abuhamza, Vice- President and Mohd Haris, Secretary appealed students to participate in various competitions by registering online in large number.

MANUU giving admissions in Legal Studies, JMC, MCom, MSc through merit

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University, the only university offering courses at a higher level in Urdu medium, has introduced MA in Legal studies and three certificate courses in French, Russian, Pashto from the academic year 2022-2023.

The newly introduced, MA Legal studies programme will enable students to face competitive examinations and enhance their soft skills. It will also enhance their capabilities to face growing competition, and their employability in NGOs, Civil Society Organizations, Health Sector, and Corporate Sector. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized institution/University+Urdu as a subject/language or as a Medium in 10th/12th / Graduation level or equivalent Madrasa courses with Urdu as a medium of Instruction approved by MANUU are eligible to take admission.

The eligibility criteria for Certificate of Proficiency in Pashto is 10+2 or equivalent, or Alim/Fazil degrees from recognized institutions whereas candidates with 10+2 or equivalent from any recognized institution are eligible for Certificate of Proficiency in French and Russian.

The other courses being offered under Post Graduate Programmes are Urdu, English, Hindi, Arabic, Translation Studies, Persian; Women Studies, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Work, Islamic Studies, History, Economics, Sociology, Journalism And Mass Communication; M.Com; and M.Sc.(Mathematics). Part-time diploma programmes are available in Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Persian, Islamic Studies and Ghazal Appreciation (Tahseen-e-Ghazal) apart from Certificate Course in Urdu.

The last date for the online submission of application forms is August 30, 2022.

MANUU announces schedule for distance mode exams

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad  National Urdu University’s Examination Branch is conducting Distance Mode Annual examinations for various undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate courses from July 14 to August 7, 2022.

According to a schedule released by Dr. Zair Hussain, Controller of Examinations, the examination will be held at various examination centre throughout the country for MA (Urdu, History, English, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Hindi), BA, B Sc, B Com, Certificate & Diploma Courses of distance mode courses in the morning and afternoon sessions.

BRAOU signs MoU with Swamy Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute

Hyderabad: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) and Swamy Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute (SRTRI) Pochampally, which is working under the aegis of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department, Govt. of Telangana, entered into a Memorandum of  Understanding (MoU) to offered skill-based courses. A meeting in this regard was held at the campus on Wednesday.

The MoU was signed and exchanged by Registrar, Dr.A.V.N Reddy, BRAOU and Swamy Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute, Director, Dr. Kishore Reddy in the presence of Prof.K.Seetharama Rao, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU. The meeting was attended by Prof.E.Sudha Rani Director (Academic), Dr.D.Rabindranath Solomon, Head Department of Commerce, Faculty members and officials from the SRTRI. (INN)

TSPSC to conduct Group-I Prelims exam on Oct 16

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has decided to conduct the Group-I Prelims exam on 16th October 2022 at all District Centers.

The details of exam centers and hall-ticket download will be updated on the TSPSC website in due course. Further, the Main Exam is likely to be held in the month of January /February 2023.

According to TSPSC Secretary Anita Ramchandran, the TSPSC has received a massive 3,80,202 applications for Group-I Service recruitment (Notification No.04/2022) and the Commission in its meeting held on 14/06/2022 has discussed the various probable dates for the conduct of preliminary exam.”It is the convention that the recruitment tests will be held at various centers on Sundays so as to avoid disturbance for the regular classes/activities of the academic institutions on account of Government examination. A number of representations have been received from various aspirants requesting to provide adequate time for studying since the Group-I exam is being held after a long time. The Commission initially contemplated holding the prelims in the month of July/August but due to representations from candidates, Commission reviewed all the available dates and after thoroughly considering all the aspects and with a view to accommodate all the candidates who are writing competitive exams at the State level viz, TS Police Recruitment Board and national level exams viz., UPSC, IBPS, RRB, etc., Commission has decided to conduct the exam on October 16,” the TSPSC Secretary said on Tuesday. (INN)

Felicitation of UPSC ranker Dr. Mustafa Hashmi at MANUU

Hyderabad: The School of Education and Training (SET), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is organizing a felicitation programme for Dr. Syed Mustafa Hashmi, MS (162 Ranker in UPSC 2021 from Hyderabad) on June 13, 2022 in the Agha Hashar Kashmiri Auditorium at Directorate of Distance Education, MANUU at 12:30 p.m.

According to Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Dean School of Education & Training, Dr. Syed Mustafa Hashmi will also inaugurate Workshop-cum-Seminar on “Leadership Development” on this occasion. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor will preside over. Prof. S.M. Rahmatullah, Pro Vice Chancellor and Prof. SK. Ishtiaque Ahmed,  Registrar will be the guests of honour.

In his statement, the Dean, School of Education and Training, said that “it is indeed a tremendous achievement  that  Dr. Syed Mustafa Hashmi has cleared the exam in spite of having a busy schedule as a doctor and while serving the Covid patients .”

Meanwhile, special Tarana for Workshop has been launched on June 10, 2022, by Dr. Muzaffar Hussain, Associate Professor, at the Department of Education and Training MANUU.

MVSR Engineering College receives NBA recognition

MVSR Engineering College, Nadergul secured National Board of Accreditation (NBA) recognition again, reflecting its consistent efforts in education and learning methodologies

Members of NBA inspection jury visited the college during May 2022 and evaluated the college performance in six (6) different courses offered here. These six courses were subsequently granted NBA accreditation for up to 2025.

The evaluated courses are Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering departments.

Mathru Shri Education Society chairman Dr. K P Srinivas Rao on this occasion stated that this was the result of hard work by the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. He appreciated and attributed all the success to Principal Dr. Kanaka Durga, Vice Principal Prof. SGS Murthy, TPO Prof. Prasanna Kumar, HoDs of different departments, Janaiah Boddupally ,Chief Coordinator and others and advised them to continue the hard work. He said that the college had secured the status of Autonomous by NBA during the previous inspection and this time six more branches of the college got recognition by it.

MANUU extends last date for distance mode exams

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has extended the date for submission of exam form for backlog papers of UG, PG, Diploma (Annual Mode) & Certificate courses from June 9 to June 12. University has already waived off the exam fee.

According to Prof. Mohd. Razaullah Khan, Director I/c, 2018 and 2019 annual batch (UG, PG, Diploma) & Certificate courses students are not required to fill the back log form for the current year as their data will be automatically updated in the portal. For 2017 and earlier batches the backlog exam form filling is manual as per the earlier existing practice.

For improvement exam, eligible students have to pay fee of Rs. 500 per paper for UG courses and Rs. 750/- per paper for PG courses.

Entrance based courses admission ends on June 12

Hyderabad: The extended last date for online submission of application form for entrance based regular courses of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) will end on June 12, 2022. The entrance tests will be held as per schedule on 5th, 6th and 7th July, 2022. MANUU is offering admissions both through entrance and merit based for the academic year 2022-2023.

National Conference on Muslim Women concluded

Hyderabad: “During covid, more and more girls dropped out of school, in-access to digital education and infrastructure furthered this divide”. Prof. Rekha Pande, Director, Society for Empowerment through Environment Development (SEED) said yesterday at Maulana Azad National Urdu University on the second day of National Conference “Gender and Inclusion: a focus on Muslim Women”. The conference was organized by the Centre for Women Studies (CWS) of MANUU and Centre for Development Policy and Practice (CDPP) Hyderabad in collaboration with Goonj, SAFA, Sahayata Trust, Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) and Soochnapreneur.

Speaking on the impact of covid on education and the socio-economic aspect, Prof. Pande pointed out that online education did not do any good during the pandemic. Education has to be linked with the economy and livelihood, she added.

According to Prof. Shahida, Director, CWS, Academics and scholars from various milieus – Arvinder Ansari, Mallika Mistry and Sangheetha A, Nilanjan Banik discussed on education and livelihoods mainly focusing on low participation of women and its further declining trajectory. Sharan Ahluwalia was the moderator.

P C Mohanan, former Member, National Statistical Commission pointed out that controversy of death registration during the COVID-19 was precisely because of the lack of proper data collection. He concluded by saying that one of the ways out of this conundrum is to return to taking census surveys, which can throw more light on these issues.

In the panel discussion “health indicators: what causes vulnerability” Meenakhsi Gupta, founder of Goonj pointed out that some health indicators are in some cases insufficient as they do not address some major issues at all. Prof. Sanghmitra Acharya, JNU said women’s health should not be confined only to their physical health, but should consider their psychological as well as emotional health. Prof. Nilanjan Banik, Mahindra University pointed out that literacy is a big factor, the better the literacy of a women, the better their health.

Prof. Amitabh Kundu, Senior Economist shared his path breaking study on discrimination against Muslim labour yesterday in the last session held at Lamkaan, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. This study quantifies discrimination against women, Muslims and daily wagers in the labour markets, especially in post COVID times. PC Mohanan and Osama Manzar, Founder & Chairperson, DEF were the other panelist.

Vahida Nainar, founder & director of Women’s research and Action Group, Fatima Khan, a Delhi-based Journalist and Prof. Aseem Prakash, Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS), Hyderabad,  Rubina Ayesha, Former GHMC Corporator and Educationist were the panelist for the panel discussion “women in difficult locations, sectors and occupations” held at Lamkaan yesterday and Manisha sethi was the Moderator. Vahida stressed on the need for a special Law against incitement to violence and Genocide.Prof. Prakash highlighted on the shrinking common culture among people of different religion in India today. Shireen Azam, Doctoral Researcher, University of Oxford, Anshu Gupta, Founder & Chairperson, SAFA and Osama Manzar were the panelist for the panel discussion “Role of civil society” and Sumaira Naser, Educationist was the moderator.
