UoH Alumni Bag Prof. M J Manohar Rao Award

University of Hyderabad (UoH) alumni Dr. Wasim Ahmad and Dr. Krishna Reddy Chittedi have bagged Prof. M J Manohar Rao Award for the year 2015. The award, which consists of cash prizes and a citation, was given during the 52nd Annual Conference of the Indian Econometric Society, held at IIM, Kozhikode last month.

As a part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, The Indian Econometric Society (TIES) instituted an award for young scholars (below 35 years) in India to commemorate Professor M. J. Manohar Rao’s contributions to economic research as well as to the TIES.

Dr. Wasim Ahmad is presently an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, while Dr. Krishna Reddy Chittedi is an Assistant Professor in Economics at the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), Thiruvarur. Earlier, both were associated with School of Economics at UoH.

Dr. Ahmad has masters in Economics from UoH which he did during 2005-2007, securing second rank in the batch. He obtained his PhD from Delhi University in 2014. Dr. Ahmed has many recognitions to his credit, including Best Research Innovation Award from Roulac Global Places, and Sir Ratan Tata Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Institute of Economic Growth (IEG).

His research areas of interest include emerging markets finance, energy economics, international finance-contagion and risk spill over, commodity derivatives and price risk modelling.

Dr. Chittedi did M.Phil from UoH during 2007 and MA from Osmania University. He obtained his PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in collaboration with Centre for Development Studies, India. Previously, he was also associated with Institute of Management Technology (IMT) and IBS, Hyderabad.

Dr. Chittedi has two books to his credit so far. His research areas of interest include International Finance, Banking and Financial Services, Macroeconomic policy, Applied Time series and Indian Agriculture. He has life membership of the Indian Econometric Society, International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS) and the World Economic Association.
