Task Force to tackle irregularities in sheep distribution

Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav informed that the Telangana Government was constituting a Task Force to deal with irregularities in the distribution of sheep.

Addressing a press conference after holding a review meeting with top officials on sheep distribution scheme at the State Secretariat on Tuesday, Talasani said several complaints of irregularities were being received from across the State.

In order to curb such irregularities and take action against the guilty, he said it has been decided to constitute a Task Force team comprising officials of Police, Revenue, Animal Husbandry and Vigilance Departments.

Talasani said a video-conference with District Collectors and SPs would be held soon to discuss the proposed Task Force. He said complaints of irregularities have been received from Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts. He said sheep have been seized after registering cases against the accused persons.

The minister informed that the sheep distribution programme was started on June 20 this year and so far, as many as 23,80,518 sheep were distributed among 113,358 beneficiaries.

He said steps were also being taken to produce fodder for the sheep and grass is being grown on 95 acres land belonging to Horticulture and Forest departments. (INN)
