Four cities in Telangana to get ORR

Hyderabad: Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao informed the Telangana Legislative Assembly that the State Government has sanctioned Outer Ring Roads for four cities in the State.

Replying to a question raised by TRS MLA V. Srinivas Goud during Question Hour on Monday, the minister said ORR would be constructed for Gajwel Town, part of Ring Road to Khammam town, part of Ring Road to Mahabubnagar town and part of Ring Road to Warangal town at a cost of Rs. 1165.20 crore.

He said works on the Gajwel Ring Road and part of Ring Road to Mahabubnagar town were in progress and Detailed Project Report is being prepared for Khammam. He said tenders have to be invited for part of Ring Road to Warangal town.

Ring Road to Gajwel town and part of Ring Road to Mahabubnagar are scheduled to be completed by October 2018. For Ring Road to Khammam Town, after completion of Stage-I activities like acquisition of land, shifting of utilities the work will be grounded, and after that, the works will be completed within 18 months.

Similarly, for Ring Road to Warangal Town, after acquisition of land and shifting of utilised, the work will be commenced and completed within 24 months.

The minister also informed that Rs. 190 crore were being spent for the construction of Gajwel Ring Road; Rs. 96.70 Crore on Part of Mahabubnagar RR; Rs. 209 Crore on part of Khammam RR and Rs. 669.50 on part of Warangal RR.

Raising the supplementary question, Srinivas Goud suggested that the Outer Ring Roads be given connectivity through radial roads. MLAs A. Ramesh (TRS) and T. Jeevan Reddy (Congress) advised the government to expedite the works. (INN)
