GHMC Plans to Develop 20 Parks in Hyderabad by April 30

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) plans to develop 20 new parks in the city, as a part of its 100 days program. The parks would be developed by April 30, 2016.

Giving clear instructions to Biodiversity officials, GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy asked them to develop the parks by April 30. The works are reportedly going on war footing basis.

The development of parks is being taken up in the open places available at the colony level, said GHMC in a release. “Due to summer season the works are going on at the places were sufficient water is available.”

Director of Urban Bio Diversity said the works are going on at Saraswathi Nagar Colony, Uppal Circle, BDL Colony, Mamathanagar Colony, and L.B. Nagar Circle.

In addition, parks will be developed at Rail Vihar in Circle-11, Venkateshwar Rao Colony, Circle 15, Santosh Colony Phase-II in Circle 16, Jyothi Nagar Colony in Circle 17, and LIG Colony in Circle 13.

While stating that the parks are being developed on war footing basis, the director noted that the works like landscaping avenue plantation, flower plants are being taken up in these parks to create a pleasant atmosphere to the visitors.

The GHMC Commissioner also informed that after completion of these parks, its maintenance will be handed over to respective Residential Welfare Associations.

Dr. Reddy appealed NGOs and Residential Welfare Associations to join hands with the GHMC in maintaining the parks.
