Hyderabad: Dalit leader from Gujarat and MLA Jignesh Mevani met MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga in Chanchalguda Jail on Wednesday.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Jignesh strongly condemned the arrest of Krishna Madiga, who is protesting for SC categorisation, and described it as “murder of democracy”.
Demanding immediate categorisation of Scheduled Castes as being demanded by the MRPS, he said that the issue would be turned into a national movement by uniting all Dalit organisations into one platform.
Jignesh alleged that there was ‘police raj’ in Telangana State and human rights were being suppressed. He remembered Dalit research scholar of University of Hyderabad Rohit Vemula who committed suicide two years ago.
Meanwhile, Telugu film director K. Mahesh also called on Krishna Madiga in jail. He also criticised the Chief Minister for the arrest of MRPS chief. He said people would soon revolt against the TRS Government. (INN)
