Hyderabad: Telangana Government is taking actions in order to speed up the developmental works in Hyderabad’s Old City, said Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao.
In the meeting held with MIM MLAs at Assembly Hall on Wednesday, Minister KTR discussed various developmental works in Old City. He reviewed the ongoing Charminar Pedestrianisation Project (CPP) works and mentioned that a dedicated team would be set up to look into the Charminar beautification and façade developmental works.
He also ordered officials to set up more water kiosks, toilets and She Toilets at Charminar.
He emphasized the importance of heritage structures and instructed officials to pay more attention to cultural aspects during the designing of the civil works in old city area. A tourist footfall is expected after the completion of the project for which minister instructed officials to have an action plan to address the increasing numbers.
When the MIM MLAs asked the Minister about the Metro Rail connectivity from Nagole-Falaknuma- Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, he responded positively and assured that the government would consider and work on it in the coming future. Minister also assured them of completing present metro corridor in old city area.
Later in the meeting, beautification and developmental works of Musi River were discussed. Rama Rao again mentioned that heritage and Deccan architectural components should be kept in mind while designing bridges over Musi River.
Telangana Government has been providing funds for various development works in Old City, he said while adding the government was ready to release additional funds from Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Corporation (TUFIDC) for some works.
Anticipating high demand for drinking water this summer, MLAs requested the Minister to provide more water supply in areas of Old City. Responding positively, KTR instructed officials to work on providing additional 5MLD water supply.
He stated that local residents should be given more awareness on the ongoing Nala and road development works in order to seek cooperation. Minister KT Rama Rao discussed the development of the Mozamjahi Market in the meeting.
Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, MLAs and HoDs of various departments from MA&UD participated in the meeting. (INN)
