Girls Perform Better in Telangana’s Intermediate Exams

Girls outshone boys in Telangana’s intermediate exams held in March 2016, with a pass percentage surpassing their male counterparts.

Results announced on 22 April 2016 revealed that girls continued their winning streak as they outperformed boys in both inter first year and second year exams.

Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education, Kadiam Srihari declared the results. Overall pass percentage of girls in the first year was 53.32 and in the second year it was 62.01.

As many as 4.56 lakh students appeared in the first year examination, but 2.43 passed out. Among the passed out students, girls had a pass percentage of 59%, while boys had 48%.

In the second year, as many as 4.18 lakh students appeared for the exams but only 2.62 lakh students passed out. In second year too, girls outshone boys with a pass percentage of 67.64%, while boys had 58%.

Ranga Reddy was ahead of all districts in Telangana in both inter first and second year results. Hyderabad scored fairly well at 69% in first year and 76% second year.

Hyderabad stood second with 56% in first year results, while Khammam was second with 66% in second year results.
