Works on Gandipet lakefront development to begin soon

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar said that environment protection and sustain the Eco System around the lake, improvement of water quality of the Gandipet lake should be the main focus while taking up the Gandipet lakefront development.

Presiding over the first Task Force meeting of the Gandipet Lake Front Development today, Arvind Kumar asked the HMDA officials to prepare the detailed project report for the first phase lake front development which is to be taken up shortly.

He said that the DPR should also include laying of sewer network as well as a plan for setting up sewerage treatment plants. He asked the water Board and other departments to hand over the lands allotted to them to HMDA to take up the lake front development.

Similarly the revenue department has been asked to identify government lands and hand over them to HMDA.

HMDA commissioner M Chiranjeevulu said that HMDA is proposing for self sustainable lake front development with planned integration of acceptable eco system which includes eco sensitive zones, and Eco friendly Activities.

HMDA would incorporate the latest and best components available world over and would integrate with nature and green cover seamlessly. The Gandipet lake front would become an icon green recreational zone in a self funding and self sustainable manner.

Water Board MD Danakishore, Ranga Reddy Collector Raghunandan Rao, GHMC Additional Commissioner Bharati Holikeri and other officials attended the meeting. (INN)
