Journalists avail free medical camp organised by TUWJF

Hyderabad: Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation (TUWJF), in association with GMH Healthcare Centre, on Sunday organised a day long free medical and dental camp for journalists and their families.

K V Ramana Chary, Advisor to Government of Telangana inaugurated the camp which was organised at AC Guards.

Md Raheemuddin Ansari, chairman Telangana State Urdu Academy, Jaffer Hussain Meraj, Nampally MLA, P Ratnakar, Deputy Director PIB, M A Majid, member, Press Council of India and president Urdu Journalists Federation, K Virahath Ali, general secretary, TUWJ and others visited the camp.

General Secretary, TUWJF, Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin explained that journalists who toil day and night were unable to give proper attention to their healthcare. As per the records, between July 2014 and August 2018 more than 220 journalists died prematurely.

According to organisers, the objective of the camp was to provide free service to the journalists who generally undergo lot of work pressure in their professional life and rarely find time to voluntarily approach a doctor for medical check up.

The camp benefited about 400 individuals, which include journalists and their family members. “This free medical camp served its purpose, as some 40 persons were diagnosed with blood pressure and diabetes. With these revelations, we hope that they would be more careful about their health at this juncture.

Generic medicines were provided free of cost to the patients. For further medication they were referred to specialists,” said Habeeb Ali Al-Jeelani, camp convenor.

While inaugurating the camp Ramana Chary described this as a good initiative and hoped that the idea would spread across the State.

He assured that the problem arising in proper utilisation ‘health card’ would be sorted out with the medical department.

Dr S S Mahmood Hussaini, chairman, GHM, Dr S S Ali Hussaini, Director, GHM supported the initiative. Dr Asra Farhana, Cardiologist, Dr Gagan Choudhary, Dental Surgeon and Swapna, Dietician diagnosed the patients.
