“Although the TSPSC has successfully conducted the largest exam for the post of Village Revenue Officers on 16-09-2018 without any major issues,

a section of media has given more prominence to minor incidents without signifying that the exam was held peacefully where arrangements were made for 10.58 lakh candidates across State of Telangana and a good percentage of 78.46% attendance was recorded,” TSPSC Secretary A.Vani Prasad said in a media statement today.

She said the TSPSC has worked in exemplary coordination with the Government of Telangana, District Administration and relevant Departments. “Government has issued a Circular designating District Collectors as District Authorities, Joint Collector as Conducting Officers, DROs as Coordinating Officers and RDOs as the Liaison Officers.

It is under their keen supervision and constant monitoring, the exam was held smoothly without any major issues at any of the centres. However, in a section of media, it was reported that women candidates were forced to remove “Mangal Suthra” in an exaggerated and misleading manner,” he said.

Vani Prasad clarified that the TSPSC had not issued instructions to remove “Mangalsutra”. “Being aware of such complaint that arose in the previous exams, it was clearly informed to all the District Collectors during the video conference also during the Press Conference held on 14-09-2018 that such actions are not correct.

In a stray incident where at one center in Medak district, initially a few women candidates were asked to remove their “Mangalsutra” to allow them into exam centre.

But once the issue was brought to their notice of the Commission, immediate instructions were issued that such steps are against Commission’s guidelines and no such instructions were given to the Chief Superintendents.

Joint Collector and IWO Narsapur visited the center and ensured that no such inconvenience is caused to women candidates,” she said.

She informed that the on Sunday itself the TSPSC has instructed the District Collector to conduct an inquiry into the incident and send a detailed report to the Commission.

Accordingly, the Medak District Collector immediately deputed the Joint Collector and RDO and conducted the inquiry and submitted a detailed report to the Commission on today.

In the Report, the District Collector informed that only 4 to 5 candidates were inconvenienced in the beginning of the exam and immediately the mistake was rectified.

“Commissioner has taken a serious note of the incident and directed the District Collector to blacklist the center and to take appropriate action to ensure that such incidents do not recur in future,” the TSPSC Secretary added.
