Uttam slams KCR for IT raids on Revanth’s houses

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has strongly condemned the IT raids on the residences of TPCC Working President A. Revanth Reddy and described it as an act of political vengeance by TRS Government.

On information of IT raids, Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with senior leaders K. Jana Reddy, Seethakka, Gudur Narayana Reddy and others, visited Revanth Reddy’s house in Jubilee Hills. However, they were prevented by the police to enter the house which led to a minor altercation between the TPCC chief and senior police officials.

Hundreds of Congress workers who had gathered at the house raised slogans against caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and also burnt his effigy.

Speaking to media persons, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that those raising voice against KCR’s regime were being suppressed and they were being implicated in false cases. He said the IT raids on Revanth Reddy’s house were similar to the raids conducted at Congress leader D.K. Shiva Kumar’s house before Karnataka elections.

He said KCR, in connivance with BJP Government at the Centre, was trying to harass Congress leaders. He said that the people were taking a note of cheap tactics by KCR to intimidate the opposition leaders and they would teach TRS a fitting lesson in next elections.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said conducting raids on the residences of Revanth Reddy in the absence of house inmates was illegal. He said if Income Tax Department really wants to unearth illegal wealth, then it should conduct raids at the office of TRS party and residence of caretaker CM.

He said Congress leaders and workers would not get threatened with the fake cases being booked against them by TRS Government. Instead, it would motivate them to fight against KCR with more vigour.

The TPCC Chief said that KCR was under the grip of fear of a humiliating defeat in next elections. The same fear has turned KCR insane to the extent that he has started harassing the Congress leaders by reviving old cases.

He said former MLA Jagga Reddy was wrongly arrested in a case of 2004 despite the fact that his name did not figure anywhere in the case. Later, Gandra Venkatarmana Reddy was targeted. Now, KCR is trying to target Revanth Reddy, he said.

Former CLP leader Jana Reddy condemned the IT raids on the residences of Revanth Reddy and said if people wish to save democracy in Telangana then they must keep KCR away from power in next elections.

“Be mentally prepared to face anything for next 60 days”

“The next two months are very crucial for the Congress party. All leaders and activists should be prepared to face and counter any kind of harassment by the TRS and BJP Government. You must not succumb to any kind of pressure or tactics by TRS and you will win the next elections,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy while addressing a gathering on the occasion of ex-MLA of Chevella K.S. Rathnam joining the Congress party at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday.

Uttam Kumar Redy said that the polling for Assembly elections was likely to be held by November end and Congress party was all set to win them.

The TPCC Chief said huge injustice has occurred to Chevella after KCR became Chief Minister. He said previous Congress Government, led by Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had launched several projects to provide drinking and irrigation water to Chevella and surrounding areas. However, after TRS came to power, all projects, including Pranahita-Chevella Project were shelved which pushed entire Chevella into a backward state.

Listing out other failures of TRS Government, Uttam Kumar Reddy said no section of society was happy with the performance of TRS Government. He alleged that KCR family has looted public wealth during the last four years and now it wants to utilise it to win next elections.

He said KCR has crushed all democratic institutions in the State. In open violation of Constitution, as many as 25 MLAs of opposition parties were made to defect to TRS and those opposing the government like Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and A. Sampath Kumar were illegally expelled from the House. All IAS and IPS officers were subjected to political misuse and media has been barred from reporting the truth under TRS regime.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said Telangana has emerged No. 1 only in terms of debts, farmers’ suicides and sale of liquor.

Nalgonda Zilla Parishad Chairman Balu Naik, along with his hundreds of supporters, also joined the party today at Gandhi Bhavan in the presence of all senior leaders. (INN)
