Shaik Abdullah Sohail appointed TPCC Minorities Dept head

Hyderabad: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has appointed senior leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail as the Chairman of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Minorities Department.

Sohail is among three leaders who have been appointed head of PCC Minorities Department. They include Sayyed Imtiaz Haider (Chattisgarh) and Milton Rashid (West Bengal). The order of their appointment was issued by AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot on Saturday.

Shaik Abdullah Sohail was presently serving the Chairman of GHCC Minorities Department. A close confidant of TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sohail had emerged as the face of Congress party among Muslims in Hyderabad since the GHMC elections.

He was instrumental in reviving the Congress party in the Old City and other Muslim dominant areas in Hyderabad.

Congress workers in large numbers gathered at Sohail’s residence in Bazar Ghat and celebrated the occasion by bursting crackers and distributing tickets.

Speaking to media persons, Sohail thanked Rahul Gandhi, Uttam Kumar Reddy and AICC Minority Department chairman Nadeem Javeed for his appointment and assured that he would work hard to bring minorities closer to Congress party in next elections.
