HLF’19 Features Kaifi Azmi, China and Gujarati

The Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF), which offers celebration of cultural diversities each year to the lovers of language, literature and culture in Hyderabad, began on Friday.

Being organized at Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet from January 25 to 27, the festival is slated to host various sessions, including conversations, stand-up comedy, Sufi music performances and folk dances.

This year, China is the guest nation invited for the festival and Gujarati is the focus language. The program creates an altar of a number of writers and artists to interact with the visitors.

A documentary by the Society to save rocks is scheduled for screening on 27th. For the festival, Karvy Group is sponsoring the event.

Here’s what to expect:

The multifaceted event includes performers from different art forms and exhibitions of books. The three-day program started on 25 January. Every year, HLF pulls increasing number of audience.

“HLF 2019 commemorates the birth centenary of poet Kaifi Azmi and multi-faceted danseuse Mrinalini Sarabhai. We will have film screenings and special sessions on them,” Amita Desai told The Hindu in an interview. She is one of HLF’s core team members.

The program is organized by Hyderabad Literary Trust in association with the Department of Tourism, Government of Telangana. The literary festival had its first launch in 2010.
