Foundation stones for new Secretariat, Assembly complexes laid

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao laid the foundation stones for the construction of new buildings for Secretariat and Assembly.

The foundation stone for new complex was laid near the existing D-Block building in the Secretariat premises. The existing structures in the present Secretariat which were constructed during 1990-2013, will be razed to be replaced with new structures at the cost of nearly Rs. 400 crore.

Immediatly after laying the foundation for the New Secretariat building, the Chief Minister went to Errum Manzi near Punjagutta where he laid the foundation stone for the construction of Legislative Complex consisting of Assembly, Council and Central Hall. Errum Manzil is a heritage building which will now be demolished for a new complex at a cost of Rs. 100 crores.

At the ceremony, the Chief Minister broke ground for the new complex at both the places by digging with a crow bar amid the chanting of Vedic hymns and carried out the traditional foundation stone laying prayers.

He then, using a hand trowel, placed some cement concrete into the pit dug for the ceremony following which the priest placed some granite blocks into the pit marking the formal laying of the foundation stones before the priests concluded the ceremony.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Vice Chairman of Legislative Council Nethi Vidya Sagar has joined in the ceremony at Errum Manzil, while the Cabinet Colleagues Mohd Mahmood Ali, Jagdishwar Reddyd, Etela Rajender, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Indira Karan Reddy, Deputy Speaker of Assembly Padma Rao, MP Keshav Rao, TRS working President K.Tarak Rama Rao, MLAs Harish Rao, Balaraju, Jeevan Reddy, Rajaiah, Muthireddy, MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma and other officials were present at the ceremony at both the places. (INN)
