FSC asks officials to follow National Food Security guidelines

Hyderabad: Telangana State Food Commission Chairman K. Thirmal Reddy directed all the District Welfare Officers (DWOs) to scrupulously follow the guidelines and instructions issued under National Food Security Act, 2013 and serve the food to the beneficiaries in the Anganwadi Centres.

Addressing a meeting with DWOs at his office on Thursday, the Chairman urged the DWOs to conduct convergence meetings among the officials at block/mandal /district level and also to set up vigilance committees.

He said there should be internal grievance redressal system, social audit and food security measures. He said NGOs and other social organizations must be invited in this mission.

The Commission also focused on the lapses in Anganwadi centres like providing nutritional food to pregnant women and lactating mothers and babies, drinking water and sanitation in hygienic condition.

It was decided to set up boards/Menu/ complaint boxes in Anganwadi Centres. The Chairman advised all the participants to ensure proper implementation of the Food Security Act.

Commission’s Member Secretary P. Kiran Kumar, Members Voraganti Anand, Banoth Sangulal, Kontham Goverdhan Reddy, Rangineni Sharada and Mulukuntla Bharathi were also present in the meeting. (INN)
