TRS Govt making false claims, fake promises on development: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & Nalgonda MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused TRS Working President & Minister K. Tarakarama Rao of indulging in ‘headline management’ by making false and hollow claims of development.

As part of election campaign for municipal elections, Uttam Kumar Reddy addressed a series of meetings in Nalgonda and Kodad besides speaking at a press conference and having live interaction with party workers on social media platform Facebook on Sunday.

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that KTR has failed to perform as the Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development. The development in areas under municipalities and municipal corporations came to a halt ever since TRS came to power.

Entire existing infrastructure in urban local bodies was created under previous Congress regime. However, KTR has been making false claims of development and cheating the people with fake promises by giving big statements in newspapers.

He also alleged that KTR was forcing the newspapers to publish his interviews on Front Page. He said such tactics would not work in favour of TRS as people have realised that only Congress party could bring development.

He said that the TRS Government completely neglected the municipalities and municipal corporations by giving them least priority in allocation and spending of funds. He said many urban local bodies had no money to even bear the operational expenses. He said no funds were allocated for construction of double bed room houses for weaker sections.

Uttam Kumar Reddy promised that he would take up developmental works in all municipalities under Nalgonda, Suryapet, Halia, Nandikonda, Nereducherla, Huzurnagar, Miryalguda and Devarkonda from his MP Funds. He said so far nearly Rs. 1 crore has been given for Nalgonda Municipality.

He said previous Congress Government has developed all municipalities by allocating huge funds. He said all municipalities were given Rs. 100 crore when late S. Jaipal Reddy was the Union Minister for Urban Development in Dr. Manmohan Singh cabinet.

The TPCC Chief said that the Congress party would win a majority of seats in all the municipalities and municipal corporations going to polls on January 22. As promised in the Vision 2020 Document, the Congress party would ensure better roads, safe drinking water, cleanliness, proper sewerage system and other civic amenities if voted to power.

He directed the party cadre to work hard for the next two days to ensure that the Congress party wins this crucial elections. He asked each party worker to ensure that he convinces at least 10 relatives, neighbours and friends to vote in favour of Congress candidates on January 22.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for not clearing his stand on implementing National Population Register (NPR) in Telangana. He said many States have categorically rejected CAA, NRC and NPR. He reminded that Kerala and Punjab Assemblies have passed resolutions rejecting the CAA and NRC.

However, he said KCR has been maintaining silence to support the BJP agenda. He appealed to the people, especially minorities, to teach KCR a fitting lesson through their votes by defeating TRS in municipal elections.

He condemned the Chief Minister for not responding to repeated appeals by the Congress party to convene a special Assembly session to pass a resolution rejecting CAA and NRC.

He said KCR’s support and love for BJP was not new. He said TRS has been a secret ally of BJP since 2014. He said KCR has supported the Modi Government’s on demonitisation and GST and TRS MPs have voted for BJP candidates in the elections for President of India, Vice President, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha.

He said TRS fully backed the BJP Government in passing the Triple Talaq, NIA Amendment and other controversial Bills.

He also reminded that TRS supported Modi Government during ‘No Confidence Motion’ by not voting against it. Similarly, by not clarifying his stand on CAA, NRC and NPR, KCR is supporting the BJP.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also condemned KCR for not suppressing the Madiga community in Telangana States. He said despite having a population of about 40 lakh in Telangana State, Madiga community has no representative in KCR cabinet.

He alleged that the Chief Minister was not only doing injustice with the community, but he is also targetting its leadership. He appealed to the Madiga community to struggle for their rights and share by defeating TRS in the municipal elections.

The TPCC Chief said TRS Government did not fulfill a single major electoral promise it made with the people in 2014 and 2018 elections. He said Muslims and STs did not get 12% reservation while poor Dalit families were still waiting for promised three acres of land.

Jobless Youth did not get promised monthly Unemployment Allowance of Rs. 3,106 while farmers were not given the crop loan waiver up to Rs. 1 lakh. He said KCR Govt has cheated the farmers in the name of Rythu Bandhu scheme as majority of eligible farmers were still waiting for financial assistance under Rythu Bandhu scheme. (INN)
