Piyush Goyal lays foundation for developmental works in SCR

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the development of Satellite Terminal at Cherlapall,i Railway Station and Electricificatino of Yerraguntla – Nandyal section (via Remote video link).

He also dedicated double line with electrification of Guntakal – Kalluru section (via Remote Video Link) and Free High-Speed Wi-Fi facility at 427 railway stations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to the nation, at a function held at Secunderabad Railway Station on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, Piyush Goyal stated that the Central Government has been serving all the regions of the nation with responsibility towards 130 crore India.

He informed that Rs. 2,602 crore has been sanctioned towards various developmental projects in Telangana in the current rail budget as against the allocation of Rs. 258 crore during the year 2014-15, which is 10 times higher.

He also informed that a record of 158 route kilometres new lines, 48 route kilometres doubling and third line facility and electrification of 303 route kilometres has been done during the last five and half years.

The Union Minister informed that a total of 12 new projects worth about Rs. 10,000 crore have been sanctioned and works were in progress at various stages. Further, 22 new trains have been introduced from Telangana region and services of 42 trains have been extended to facilitate the passengers.

He stated that Cherlapalli Railway Station would be developed with an expenditure of Rs. 250 crore and another terminal station at Lingampalli would be given due priority.

Provision of free high speech wi-fi facilities at 427 railway stations in the States of Telangana and Anndhra Pradesh would immensely benefit the youth and students. He also informed that Secunderabad Railway Station stands in 4th position in Indian Railways in usage of free high speed wi-fi.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy stated that development of satellite terminal at Cherlapalli Railway Station was very useful for the residents of Hyderabad east side as well as west side due to its strategic positioning near Outer Ring Road.

He urged the railways to expedite the MMTS Phase II and extend it to the popular pilgrim centre Yadadri. He expressed happiness over provision of free high speech Wi-fi facility at 427 railway stations across TS and AP.

Earlier, SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya, in his welcome address, briefed the audience about various initiatives which were launched today.

Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Telangana BJP President Dr. K. Lakshman, BJP MPs D. Aravind, B. Sanjay and S. Bapu Rao and other leaders were also present. (INN)
