Kavitha files nomination for MLC elections

Hyderabad: Daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Wednesday filed her nomination papers for bye-election to Telangana Legislative Council from Nizamabad Local Authorities Constituency.

Before proceeding to Nizamabad, Kavitha visited Ministers’ Quarters and met Asembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and other ministers and MLAs of Nizamabad district.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Legislative Affairs Minister Prashand Reddy said that the Chief Minister had agreed to nominate Kavitha as MLC candidate following request by 9 MLAs of undivided Nizamabad district.

Kavitha is all set to win the elections as TRS and MIM have 532 out of 824 votes in the Nizamabad Local Authorities Constituency while Congress have 140 and BJP has just 85 votes.

BJP candidate Laxmi Narayana Pothankar has also filed her nomination today. (INN)
