Hyderabad: President of India Ramnath Kovind, along with Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, have interacted with Governors, Lt Governors and Administrators of all States and Union Territories on issues related to COVID-19 over video conference today morning and they lauded the efforts of all health professionals and everyone at the forefront of handling this challenge.
Speaking on the occasion, Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan informed that the State was under lockdown with effect from March 23. She further informed that, as on March 26, 44 positive cases are reported and No deaths have occurred in the state.
One person was discharged and remaining all patients is stable. All of them either have foreign travel history are in contact with persons who travelled abroad.
The Governor informed that 20,475 persons, who have history of foreign travel, are kept under home quarantine. As many as 1,244 have completed home quarantine as on March 25 and rest are in quarantine.
The IEC material (print / videos) is prepared in three languages and disseminated. Social media is used extensively to create awareness.
State level Control Room has been opened for 24X7 coordination. 104 Call Centre is being operated to clarify the doubts of the public and suggest the measures to be taken.
Six labs in Government Hospitals (i) Gandhi Medical College (ii) Osmania Medical College (iii) Fever Hospital and (iv) NIMS (v) Institute of Preventive Medicine and (vi) Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal. So far 1341 samples have been tested and 41 are found to be positive.
ICMR has permitted 3 private labs to do the testing (i) Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills (ii) Vijaya Diagnostics, Himayatnagar (iii) Vimta Labs, Cherlapally
The Governor also informed that 3,718 patients have reported at Gandhi Hospital, Fever Hospital and Chest Hospital for admission. Of these 940 are admitted. A total of 756 patients are discharged after they were found to be negative. 184 patients are currently under admission.40 are COVID positive cases and remaining are awaiting test results.
All Community Health Centres, Area Hospitals, AYUSH hospitals have been identified as Level-I hospitals (a total of 151). These facilities should have stocks of consumables like sample collection kits, PPEs, N95 masks and other disposables. Six hospitals with ICU facilities are identified as Level-II hospitals. Seven hospitals are designated as Level-III hospitals, which will have ICU facilities and facilities for multi-disciplinary treatment.
Under phase-I 4000 isolation beds and 600 ICU beds have been identified.
All necessary equipment, consumables, disposables etc are being procured. Orders have been placed for procurement of 500 ventilators, 200 BiPAP machines etc.
District Hospital, King Koti is converted as exclusive COVID-19 Hospital with 350 beds and 50 ICU beds. As many as 23 Private Hospitals have come forward to provide isolation facilities in their hospitals, the Governor informed. (INN)
