Govt Whip, GHMC Mayor administer oath to Entomology Wing

Hyderabad: Government Whip Arekepudi Gandhi and GHMC Mayor Dr. Bonthu Rammohan administered oath with the Entomology Wing that they would keep the city clean and work hard to cut the chain the spread of Covid -19 virus.

Arekepudi Gandhi said the Entomology Wing of GHMC has been working day and night for the welfare of the citizens. He instructed them to take safety measures like gloves, masks and follow social distance while discharging duties.

As per the instructions of Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao that no one should sleep hungry, the government is giving 12kg Rice and Rs.1500 to each white card holder and 12 kg rice and Rs.500 to the migrant workers. He further said that it was everyone’s responsibility to play an effective role in fighting with Covid-19

While addressing the gathering, the GHMC Mayor said that the Entomology wing was discharging duties bravely even in Covid-19 positive areas and Containment Zones a part from various parts of the city. “The number of positive cases is decreasing daily because of efforts of the entomology wing and GHMC staff.

All departments like Police, Revenue, Sanitation, Health and GHMC co-coordinating, monitoring the situation and working collectively in fighting with Covid-19 virus.

A city like Hyderabad with 1 Cr population and with floating public it is not an easy task to cut the chain link in containing the spread of virus. The municipalities and Panchayaths and others are following the steps taken by the GHMC in containing the spread of Covid-19,” he said.

Principal Secretary MA&UD Arvind Kumar and GHMC Commissioner D.S. Lokesh Kumar appreciated the efforts of the Entomology wing in containing the spread of covid-19 virus. The Entomology Dept was also taking up fogging and spraying operations simultaneously to control Dengue and Malaria diseases.

Additional Commissioner Rahul Raj, Zonal Commissioner N. Ravi Kiran, Chief Entomologist Rambabu, Deputy Commissioners Sudamsh, Venkanna and senior Entomologists have participated in the programme. (INN)
