Chief Secretary holds teleconference with District Collectors on ‘Gulab’ cyclone

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar held a teleconference from New Delhi, with the District Collectors in the wake of the Meteorological Department warning of heavy rains in the state for the coming two days.

The Chief Secretary directed all the collectors to keep a vigil on “Gulab Toofan” which may show its impact in the entire state from today evening for the next two days and to open a special control room in all the districts to monitor the flood situation and gave necessary directions.

The Met Department announced a Red alert to North Telangana and an Orange alert to South Telangana Districts. The Chief Secretary directed the District Collectors to work in coordination with police and other line departments and stay alert on low-lying areas and keep vigil and to take necessary measures on the tanks likely to breach. He asked them to take services of NDRF if necessary.

The Chief Secretary asked the officials to keep a vigil on such places where people are likely to cross over to another side during the overflow of the streams. He wanted special officers to be appointed in every Mandal to avoid any Human and Asset loss.

“The Officers and Staff of GHMC should be alert in the wake of rising water levels in Himayath Sagar and  Osman Sagar Reservoirs, and to monitor the rising water levels constantly and also keep vigil and monitor the rising levels of all the tanks in the state,” he said.Special Chief Secretary (R&B) Sunil Sharma, Disaster Management Principal Secretary Rahul Bojja, Panchayat Raj & Energy Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania and GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar participated in the teleconference from Hyderabad along with all the district collectors. (INN)
