Hyderabad: The Congress party will organise “Chalo Mallanna Sagar” rally on Tuesday in protest against the police lathicharge on farmers.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, TPCC Vice-President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka informed that all Congress leaders would proceed to Mallanna Sagar in a rally from party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan at 10 AM on Tuesday.
Describing today’s ‘Medak Bandh’ as successful, he condemned the arrest of Congress leaders Damodar Rajanarasimha, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Shravan Kumar and other opposition leaders. He accused the TRS Government of misusing police machinery to suppress the opposition.
Bhatti disputed the claims of Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao wherein he stated that farmers were giving away their land voluntarily. He said if farmers were cooperating with the government, then why they were lathicharged.
He asked the government to change its attitude. Else, he warned that the farmers across the State would join the protest against its anti-people policies. (INN)
