OU sets up Divyangjan Centre

Hyderabad: Towards empowering divyangjans in higher education institutions, Osmania University has taken a step forward by establishing a Centre for Disabilities Resources in the Department of Sociology, University College of Arts and Social Sciences, OU.

The new Centre is in tune with the UGC and Government of India mandate and direction for empowering persons with disabilities. The Centre will enable counselling of students and scholars with disabilities on matters concerning further education and career opportunities, mental and physical well-being, and peer mentoring. This is also in compliance with the criteria laid out by the NAAC assessment report.Dr. B. Madhuri Smitha, Associate Professor of Economics, University College for Women has been appointed the first Director of this Centre. She is the recipient of the state best teacher award 2021. (INN)
