BRAOU collaborates with CEMCA for the online training programme

Hyderabad: The Centre for Staff Training and Development (CSTD) of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University in collaboration with Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) on Monday launched an online capacity building programme on ‘Blended Learning In Higher Education Institutions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking after launching the programme, BRAOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Seetharama Rao said that the Covid-19 pandemic had brought about many changes in the current higher education system, making it easier for educators to learn new skills. Faculty members working in higher education institutions have to learn teaching methods using information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a tool.

Prof.Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, Senior program Officer, CEMCA, New Delhi, said that in line with the changing circumstances, it is imperative for the faculty to learn new skills to teach the students in a way that is easy to understand. He pointed out that in the coming days, there is a lot of opportunity for education in a blended mode in the country and the faculty should be provided with the necessary technology for it.

Prof.Tummala Ramakrishna, Vice-Chancellor, Dravidian University, Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh and Prof.S.Mallesh, Vice-Chancellor, Satavahana University, Karimnagar also spoke on the occasion, the time has come for faculty members working in higher education institutions to develop the technical skills offered by universities in order to improve the skills of teachers working in higher education institutions.

Prof.E.Sudha Rani, Academic (Director) and Dr.G.Laxma Reddy, Registrar attended as Guests of honor, addressed the gathering, Faculty in higher education institutions must learn the technology to adapt to the changes coming around the world.

Prof.Ghanta Chakrapani, Director (Centre for Staff Training and Development) Presided over the function. He explained the training classes were designed to be useful to faculty members on weekdays. Dr.D.Rabindranath Solomon, Program Coordinator, All the Directors, Heads of the Branches, Deans, Faculty members of BRAOU and those who are working in various educational institutions in the two Telugu States participated. (INN)
