MANUU holds Sports & Games competitions under Jashn-e-Baharan

Hyderabad:  Maulana Azad National Urdu University Students’ Union (MSU) organized competitions for various sports & games  as part of cultural, literary & sports festival “Jashn-e-Baharan 2022” being held from June 24.

According to the Convenor, Dr. A Kaleemulla, Deputy Director, Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, the competitions were held for Athletics, Badminton, Carrom, Chess, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Volley Ball and Weight lifting for both boys and girls.

Shabnam Khatoon of School of Technology emerged as the fastest girl of the campus. She won both 100 and 200 mts sprint. Ataliya Aarfeen won 400 meters. Mohammed Rizvan stood first in 200 meters (Boys) and Shan-E-Ali won 800 meters. Zaid Afrin declared winner in girls chess whereas Mohammed Kaif was the winner in boys category.

In Carrom (Doubles) Be Be Juveria and Shaik Shainaz Begum were the winners for girls competition and Abdur Rahman Asif & Waqar Ahmad for boys. Aarzoo Bano and Bushra Fatima are the winners for girls Badminton (Doubles) whereas Amir Rahoof & Mohd Rafiq are the winners for boys competition. Aarzoo Bano also won Table Tennis Singles whereas Salman Siddiqui won boys table tennis competition. Weight Lifting competitions for 50 kgs, 55 kgs and 60 kgs was held for girls in which Shabnam Khatoon, Hejab Manzer and Taskeen Nasim are the winners respectively. For Boys 65 kgs Weight Lifting Salman Khan is the winner whereas Irfan Ahmad Mir & Kamil Mohammed are the joint winners for 70 kgs and Amjad is the winner in 75 kgs category. The school of languages boys team won Football & Volleyball boys competition whereas school’s girls team is the winner for throw ball competition. In Kabbadi boys competition, School of Mass Communication and Journalism team is the winner and for girls Kabbadi CS&IT is the winner. The School of Sciences boys team won cricket championship whereas girls team won football title.

Dr. Viquar Unnisa, Provost, Girls Hostel was also the convenor for sports and games. Ms. Firdaus Tabassum, Assistant Professor, Education & Training was the co-convenor for girls competition. Dr. Mohammad Habeebullah, Mr. P Habibullah, Mr. Shaik Rahimuddin, Mr. Mohan Rao, Mr. Md. Ameer, Mr. Shaik Naveed, Mr. Muzaffar Ali, Mr. B. Bikshapati, Dr. B. Murahari, Mr. Ghaus, Mr. Mahmood actively took part in these competitions. Mr. Mohd Mursaleen, President – MSU, Md Abuhamza, Vice-President, and Mohd Haris, Secretary, supervised both the competitions.
