Haryana Governor Dattatreya visits Osmania University

Hyderabad: Governor of Haryana Bandaru Dattatreya visited Osmania University to interact with the administrative officers of the University in connection with the NIRF 2022 ranking achievement by the University. During his interaction, he recalled that the historic Osmania University has provided leadership in many fields, including a prime minister.

Prof. M. Srinivas,  IQAC Director presented in detail the factors that contributed to the 22nd rank achieved in the NIRF at the national level by the University.

Bandaru Dattatreya expressed his happiness about this achievement of the University and as a proud alumnus, he has come to congratulate the OU administration for this achievement. He urged all the Osmania faculty to take inspiration from IIT Ramaiah and train the students to achieve great heights. Though wrought with fewer funds and facilities he urged the University to compete with the private sector. He said that if everyone worked together, it would not be long before the University would be recognized as the best in the world. With the National Education Policy by the central government, the education system in India is going to progress in the right direction.

He also emphasized that DPRs for various developmental projects should be prepared and funding for them should be raised through various means including corporate social responsibility. He said that it is a good sign that universities like Osmania, where students from various backgrounds study, are doing well. It has been suggested that the respective departments should look into the opportunities available in the private sector.  Dattatreya also appreciated the fact that women are excelling in education and research.

‘Governments should give utmost priority to state-funded universities’ urged Prof. D. Ravinder, Vice-Chancellor. He echoed the opinion of  Dattatreya who explained that radical changes are possible only through increasing technological knowledge, research and innovation, and steps are being taken in these directions by the present administration. The university has achieved this position in the national level ranking only by working together on Agenda 21 and hoped that the entire OU machinery would work together to retain the top position in the NIRF ranking in the future.

‘The right leadership of the Vice-Chancellor is steering the university administration and other staff on the path of reform, perform and transform’ said Prof. P. Laxminarayana, Registrar of the University.

This programme was attended by the Deans, Principals, Directors, Heads of the Departments, Chairpersons of the Boards of Studies, faculty, and administrative officers of the university. (INN)
