Chief Secretary reviews preparations for ‘Swathantra Bharatha Vajrotsavalu’

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar today held a series of meetings on Swathantra Bharatha Vajrotsavalu at BRKR Bhavan today.  He took stock of the arrangements being made in connection with the historical event. 

He asked the officials to make elaborate arrangements for the inaugural function at HICC in accordance with the instructions of the Honourable Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekar Rao.  Later he held a video conference with the collectors and directed them to organise the function in a befitting manner.

The Chief Secretary stated that for the first time in the country the movie GANDHI will be screened in 563 theatres across the state which will be viewed by 35 lakh students.  He told the Collectors that it is a great occasion to involve public representatives and the public to inculcate the spirit of nationalism and patriotism among the people.  On this occasion, about 1.20 Crores national flags will be distributed free of cost throughout the state.  The National Tricolour should be hoisted at every household on Independence Day, he added.

Somesh Kumar said that a Special Assembly session will be held on the 21st of this month to commemorate India’s 75 years of Independence.  75 prisoners with good conduct will be released on the occasion.  Similarly, the best doctors who have rendered selfless service and 75 government employees will be felicitated.

The Chief Secretary informed the collectors that special plantation drives should be taken up in all villages, mandals, and municipalities throughout the state.  Kavi sammelans/Mushairahs /Rallies should be held in a befitting manner. 

DGP Mahender Reddy, Special Chief Secretaries Arvind Kumar, Rani Kumidini, Shanti Kumari, Sunil Sharma, Home Principal Secretary Ravi Gupta, Addl DG Jitender, GAD Secretary Sheshadri and other senior officials attended the conference. (INN)
