Chief Secretary directs officials to make elaborate arrangements for the Bathukamma festival

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar directed the officials to make elaborate arrangements for the ensuing Bathukamma festival in a grand manner.  The nine-day Bathukamma festival will be celebrated from the 25th of this month to the 3rd of next month.  The main celebrations will be held on 3rd October which will be celebrated as Saddula Bathukamma.

Presiding over a coordination meeting on organizing Bathukamma Celebrations at BRKR Bhavan today, he said that as a large number of people will be participating in the festival, elaborate arrangements should be made in a befitting manner.

The officials have been directed to illuminate important traffic islands and buildings during the festival.  Improvement of roads, barricading at immersion points, provision of uninterrupted power supply, organising cultural programmes, arrangement of swimmers near Hussain Sagar and at all the immersion points should also be put in place.  All the metro pillars and inside metro trains should be decorated depicting the Bathukamma festival.  Wide publicity should be given on social media about the festival. 

For the Sasddula Bathukamma which is to be held on the 3rd of October, Chief Secretary asked the officials to ensure the provision of logistics like the arrangement of small cranes for immersion of Bathukammas, illumination across the banks of Hussain Sagar, police security, traffic control and regulation, temporary toilets, distribution of buttermilk sachets, arrangements of first aid facility, deployment of fire extinguishers etc.  Saddula Bathukamma should also be organised in all the district headquarters, the Chief Secretary added.Advisor to Govt.
