Hyderabad: TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday reviewed the functioning of Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee and assured to take immediate steps for its revival.
Holding the meeting almost six months after the GHMC elections, the Congress president discussed issues pertaining to all 150 wards in the GHMC limits.
He exhorted the senior leaders to strengthen the party at grass root levels. It may be mentioned that the GHCC is headless since the resignation of former minister Danam Nagender from the cost following party’s dismal performance in GHMC elections. However, Uttam did not give any indication as to when the new body would be constituted.
The office bearers and senior leaders discussed various issues concerning the party cadre. Uttam Kumar Reddy appreciated the cadre for sailing with the party even during crisis. He asked them to work as a team to ensure that the Congress returns to power in next General Elections.
Former union minister Sarve Satyanarayana advised the TPCC chief to constitute separate committees for Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts instead of continuing with GHCC. He reportedly recommended the candidature of former MP M. Anjan Kumar Yadav for the post of Hyderabad DCC.
The meeting, presided by ex-Union Minister P. Balram Naik, was attended by ex-Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, ex-Deputy Mayor G. Rajkumar, Anjan Kumar Yadav, D. Sudhir Reddy, Kona Srisailam Goud, Maqsood Ahmed, Shaik Abdullah Sohail, Yousuf Hashmi and others. (INN)
