National Seminar on Exegesis of Quran held at MANUU

Hyderabad: The National Seminar on “Exegesis of Qur’an from Indian Subcontinent with Reference to Arabic Works” was organized today by the Department of Arabic, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with International Research Institute for Tafsir Al-Qur’an (IRITAQ), Kerala.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU presided over the inaugural session. Janab Syed Munavvar Ali Shihab, Rector, IRITAQ, Dr. Sayyid Mousa Al Kazimi, Secretary General, IRITAQ & Prof. N.A.M. Abdul Kader, Dept. Chairman, IRITAQ  were the chief guests. Prof. Syed Rashid Naseem Nadwi, Head, Department of Arabic, EFLU, Hyderabad delivered the keynote address.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Aziz Bano, Dean, School of Language, Linguistics and Indology spoke about Deccani and Persian interpretations of Quran.

Prof. Syed Alim Ashraf Jaisi, Head, Department & Seminar Director delivered the welcome address and briefed about aims & objectives of the seminar. Prof. Mohd Abdul Sami Siddiqui, Director, CPDUMT convened the programm. The seminar convenor, Dr. Mohd Abdul Aleem proposed vote of thanks.

Later in the valedictory session, Prof. Syed Mohammed Haseebuddin Quadri delivered presidential remarks whereas Prof. SM Rahmatullal, Former PVC, MANUU, and Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi were the guests of honour. Dr. Javed Nadeem Nadvi, Assistant Professor, Arabic proposed vote of thanks in the valedictory session.
