TS Govt will surely stand by farmers: Rajeswhar Reddy

Hyderabad: MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, President of the State Rythu Samanvaya Samiti, said that the government will definitely stand by the farmers whose crops have been lost due to the recent rains.

Palla Rajeshwar Reddy spoke to the media along with MLAs Vivekananda Goud, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy on Monday.

Rajeshwar Reddy said that the ministers and MLAs have inspected the crops damaged by untimely rains in the state. The officials are assessing the crop damage in all the constituencies. He said that even if the Central Government does not provide any help, the state government was committed to supporting the farmers. He said that his government was a farmers’ government.

He said that once the crop loss estimates are completed, the farmers will be taken care of. The central government has also been asked to send teams to the state. He said that the Center also had the responsibility to support the farmers who have lost their crops. He reminded that in the past no funds were given by the Center despite sending estimates on crop damage.

He said that the Center was not giving any kind of help to the states where there was no BJP government. He said that there was no benefit to the farmers with the crop insurance scheme brought by the Centre. Farmers will lose with the crop insurance scheme, insurance companies will gain, he said.Rajeshwar Reddy demanded that the Center should introduce a new policy in place of this scheme. (INN)
