Attack me, not Dalits: PM

Hyderabad: Taking a tough stand against attacks on Dalits, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday warned those involved in such incidents.

“If you want to attack, attack me and not Dalits. If you want to shoot, shoot me and not Dalits,” said the Prime Minister while addressing a meeting of BJP workers at L.B. Stadium on Sunday night. He also called for stopping politics on Dalit attacks and described the issue as a social evil.

He said any kind of discrimination between people was not acceptable. Without referring to any particular incident, the Prime Minister said that Dalits must be given respect and saved. He said divisive politics was not good for the country.

Modi began his speech by wishing the crowd in Telugu language. Recalling the previous meeting which he addressed at the same venue before elections, he said for the first time in history entry fee was collected for attending a political meeting.

He said the same meeting forced everyone, especially the political analysts to look BJP in a different perspective.

Stating that he was impressed with the huge crowd at today’s meeting, Modi said that the BJP has created history by assembling booth-level workers at L.B. Stadium.

He said it was easier to gather crowd for the public meetings, but it was an achievement to assemble booth-level workers. He said he could foresee a bright future for BJP in Telangana State.

The Prime Minister reminded that the Central Government was celebrating August 7 as Handloom Day. He asked everyone in the meeting to switch on the flash lights on their mobile phones to pay respect to the weavers and handloom workers.

Modi also listed out various achievements of his government and claimed that the BJP-led NDA Government has so far ensured corruption-free government. He also thanked all political parties for supporting the Goods & Service Tax Bill said ‘One Nation, One Tax’ would boost country’s economy. (INN)
