Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), School of Sciences (Zoology) observed International Day of Immunology on 27th April 2023 in association with the Indian Immunology Society, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi to educate & popularize the importance of immunity in the prevention and cure for both infectious and non-infectious diseases. More than 100 participants attended the programme through Offline/Online Mode.
Prof. Sharmista Banerji, an eminent immunologist from University of Hyderabad while delivering lecture “Immune system your Shield against infections” gave scientific insights into the basic concepts of Immunology and spoke about various means to keep the Immune system healthy. She also enlightened the audience on the importance of vaccination.
The chief guest, Prof. Siddiqui Mohammad Mahmood, OSDII in his remarks emphasized the importance of general awareness on immunity to keep good health through a healthy life style.
Prof. Parveen Jahan, Organizing Secretory briefed about the importance and aim of the International Day of Immunology in the light of this year’s theme “Immunology Talks for Public Health”. Prof. Salman Ahmad Khan, Dean, School of Sciences welcomed the delegates.
The Inaugural session was followed by Poster and Oral presentations by the students from various colleges of Hyderabad. The presentations were judged by Prof. Rajyasree, Head, Dept Zoology, VV college, Osmania University and Dr. Arif Ahmad, Assistant Professor (Zoology), MANUU and the awards were given to the winners.
