Basti Dawakhans aimed at providing medical care to the poor: Talasani

Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has set up Basti Dawakhanas to make medical treatment available to the poor.

He was speaking after inaugurating A newly established Basti Hospital was inaugurated in Sundar Nagar Basti of Golnaka Division under the Amberpet constituency along with local MLA Kaleru Venkatesh on Friday.

The Minister said that in the present conditions, medical treatment was very expensive and Basti Davakhanas will be set up only in the slums where the poor live. He said that medical services are being provided to people through 350 Basti Dawakhanas under the GHMC area. 14 basti dispensaries have been approved for the Hyderabad district. It is stated that the number of people going to the area government hospitals has reduced significantly due to the availability of all types of medical tests and medicines in Basti Davakhanas.

He clarified that after the formation of Telangana, government hospitals were developed with thousands of crores of rupees on par with corporate hospitals. He said that after Harish Rao took charge as the Minister of Health, state-of-the-art equipment like CT scans, MRIs and Cath labs were provided in the government hospitals. It has been mentioned that the work of developing NIMS hospitals into a 2000-bed hospital was going on.He explained that the government will build multi-speciality hospitals in LB Nagar, Kothapet, Erragadda, Alwal and other areas. He said that Hyderabad was going to develop as a medical hub in the coming days with the many measures taken by the government. On this occasion, the minister underwent a BP check at Basti Hospital.
