World class facilities in Pharma City: KTR

Hyderabad: Industries Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Tuesday met the representatives of Industrial Waste Water Treatment companies and discussed the setting up of common effluent treatment plants for the prestigious Pharma City and other industrial parks in the Telangana State.

Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Arvind Kumar, TSIIC MD Venkat Narasimha Reddy, EPTRI Director General Kalyan Chakravarthy, representatives from Sembcorp, Singapore, GE Water USA, Tahal Amsterdam and other national and international companies were present on the occasion.

The minister stated that polluted water will be brought to zero discharge level from the common effluent treatment plant to be set up in Pharma City.

At the same time the plant will be built on par with international standards. Officials have visited the effluent treatment plants set up in the Pharma cities in China, Singapore and Malaysia. The Hyderabad Pharma City will also be built on the same standards.

An effluent treatment plant will also be set up in the textile park, the minister added.

The Minister said that apart from the new industrial parks, steps are being taken to ensure that all the industrial estates in the state would also be brought to zero discharge standards.

The government is discussing with the various companies to ensure reduction of industrial pollution as per the directions of the Chief Minister.

He wanted the companies to come up with new economic models so as to ensure less financial burden to the state exchequer.He said that the effluent treatment plants are not only necessary in the Pharma City but also in the areas where the industries will be shifted shortly. (INN)
