TS Govt releases TET notification

Hyderabad:  Telangana Government released the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) notification on Tuesday. TET Paper-1 and Paper-2 exams will be conducted on September 15. Applications will be accepted online from the 2nd to the 16th of August. Both DED and BED candidates have been given an opportunity to appear for the Paper-1 examination. BED-qualified candidates can appear for Paper-1 along with Paper-2.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee, in a recent meeting, had approved the conduct of TET. In this context, SCERT officials have prepared proposals on the management of TET and handed it over to Education Secretary Vakati Karuna. While the education department approved the respective proposals, the authorities worked on the management of TET and released the notification.According to the latest estimates, there are 1.5 lakh D.Ed and 4.5 lakh B.Ed candidates in the State. 8,792 teacher posts have been filled through TRT notification 2017. Previously, TET had a validity of 7 years, but two years ago, the duration of TET was extended to a lifetime. Moreover, in the past, only DED candidates were given the opportunity to compete for Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts, recently BED candidates have also been given the opportunity. This has given relief to those who have previously qualified TET as well as BED candidates. There are 2 lakh non-TET qualified people in the state till now. Apart from them, there are another 20,000 people who have completed BED and D.D. All of them will get a chance to compete once again with the latest TET. (INN)
