Hyderabad: Finance Minister T. Harish Rao said that the BRS Government has been working for all, irrespective of caste, religion, or region.
He was addressing a meeting organised by Patencheru MLA Mahipal Reddy on Saturday for the distribution of cheques among the beneficiaries of BC Bandhu, Minority Bandhu, Kalyana Laxmi, Shaadi Mubarak and registration of documents for lands regularised under GO 58 and 59.
He said that the government has implemented several schemes for the welfare and development of all sections of society, including the BCs, minorities, and poor girls. He said that the government has started 9 medical colleges in the past two days and is also starting the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) today. He thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for giving Rs 1 lakh directly to the beneficiaries under BC Bandhu without any conditions and a single rupee of debt.
Harish Rao said that the State Government has also allocated a budget of Rs. 2,000 crores for the welfare of minorities in Telangana. This is more than what is allocated by other states, such as Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh, which have a larger Muslim population. He also said that the government has implemented the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak schemes to provide financial assistance for the marriage of poor girls. So far, the government has assisted the marriage of 12,71,000 girls, spending Rs. 11,130 crores.
The Finance Minister said Telangana was the only state providing uninterrupted 24-hour quality electricity. He criticized the Congress party for its failure to develop Telangana during its 60 years in power.Harish Rao said that the people of Telangana were not in a position to believe that the Congress would do any good for them now. He said that the Congress party if it could, should implement welfare development programmes beyond Telangana in the three states where it is ruling. (INN)
