Harish Rao stresses early detection, treatment of NCDs, CPR awareness

Hyderabad: Health Minister Harish Rao stressed the importance of early detection and treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as high blood pressure (BP) and diabetes.

Speaking at the World Heart Day event organized by the Cardiologist Society, Telangana Chapter at Durgam Cheruvu in Hyderabad on Friday, he also highlighted the importance of CPR in saving lives in cases of sudden cardiac arrest.

Harish Rao noted that 24% of people in Telangana have diabetes and 14% have high BP. He warned that BP and diabetes can damage important organs, such as the heart, kidneys, and liver, if they are not detected and treated early.  He also highlighted the importance of CPR in saving lives in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, which he said kills about 15 lakh people in India each year.Harish Rao urged everyone to take care of their health by maintaining a healthy body mass index (BMI), keeping BP and sugar levels under control, avoiding bad habits, exercising regularly, and meditating to reduce stress. He also said that the government is committed to raising awareness about CPR and providing training to people across the state. (INN)
