Uma Madhava Reddy refutes Nayeem links

Hyderabad: Former TD minister and the widow of former home minister Uma Madhava Reddy refuted the allegations of her links with slain gangster Nayeem.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Uma Madhava Reddy demanded judicial inquiry to establish if her family had association with the gangster. She said, “The ruling party in Telangana, in an attempt to shield top leaders, is dragging my family into this issue.

I don’t have trust in the SIT investigation into cases against Nayeem. A judicial inquiry into this whole issue should be done. If proven guilty, I am ready to go to jail.”

Uma Madhav Reddy, along with son Sandeep Reddy, addressed a press conference and lashed out at the media reports suspecting links between Nayeem and her family.

“Our family has always served the people and worked for their development. We were involved in real estate business or in encouraging mafia elements.

The government is deliberately targeting our family. All my call records can be verified to establish if I had any contacts with Nayeem or his associates, the former MLA asserted.

Speaking to media, Sandeep Reddy said, “There were no land settlements and extortion till the TD regime. However, after Congress coming to power, all the mafia elements go free hand to operate. Only a judicial probe can bring out truth.” (INN)
