Sudhir and Chellappa commissions submit report on quota

Hyderabad: Sudhir Commission and Chellappa Commission which were constituted to enquire into the educational, social and economic backwardness of the Muslims and the STs/tribals in the Telangana State submitted their reports to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao.

The commission was constituted under the chairmanship of Retired IAS officer G. Sudheer. Its other members were Mohammed Amerullah Khan, Abdus Shaban and Mohammed Abdul Bari.

The members of the two committees met the Chief Minister at his camp office here on Friday and submitted the reports.

Speaking on the occasion, KCR said that the State Government was committed to increasing the reservation for Muslim and STs as promised by the TRS during the elections.

He said that the two sections of the society were backward in all spheres and said that a legislation on the lines of quota provided by the Tamil Nadu Government.

A legislation on the issue of enhancing quota would be brought in the Assembly while the STs, who were enjoying 6% quota would be provided the reservation in proportionate to their population in the state. (INN)
