Sudhir Commission Discusses Research Papers on Telangana Muslims

Officials tasked to study socio-economic conditions of Muslims in Telangana submitted various survey reports in an advisory board meeting of Inquiry Commission held at The Plaza, Hyderabad on November 17.

Numerous government officials participated in Tuesday’s meeting, including chairman of the Commission B Sudhir, director of Minority Welfare Jalaluddin Akbar, and secretary of Minority Welfare Department Syed Omer Jaleel.

They discussed various issues pertaining to socio-economic conditions of Muslims in the Telangana state, and presented papers on history, socio-economic issues, education, income levels, etc.

In addition, the research papers presented also dealt on financial inclusion, living conditions, status of women, communal violence and others.

On this occasion, Mr. Sudhir said that data made available to the Commission would be utilized for preparing a comprehensive report as per the instructions of the TS government.

He added that using inputs from research papers presented in the meeting, a sample survey of Muslim populations across 10 districts of Telangana would conducted very soon.

He also noted that the data would be compiled and preserved for the future use besides predicting indicators for providing 12 per cent reservations.

On the same occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali inaugurated Facebook & Twitter pages of the Commission of Inquiry for a larger and deeper reach among citizens for obtaining their views.

Last date for receipt of suggestions and data to the Commission was extended up to November 30, 2015. Interested persons can give suggestion to the Commission through Email, Facebook, Twitter, or in person.
