Funds sanctioned for new hostels at Osmania and Gandhi medical colleges

Hyderabad: The state government has approved the construction of new hostel facilities for students of Osmania and Gandhi Medical Colleges. The Department of Health and Family Welfare issued a Government Order (GO) on Wednesday, sanctioning funds for the development of these accommodations.

For Osmania Medical College, Rs. 80 crore and Rs. 35 crore have been allocated for the construction of hostels for male and female junior doctors, respectively. Additionally, Rs. 6 crore has been approved for a dental hospital in Osmania Pharmacy. The boys’ hostel will undergo repairs and lime-washing, and cement concrete (CC) roads will be laid within Osmania Hospital premises.

In Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad, Rs. 42 crore and Rs. 23 crore have been sanctioned for hostels for male and female junior doctors, respectively. A senior residence block hostel will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 14.50 crore.

Furthermore, the government has approved Rs. 2.75 crore for the construction of cement concrete roads at Kakatiya Medical College, Hanamkonda. In total, Rs. 204.86 crore has been sanctioned for various projects across these three medical colleges.The Director of the Health Department has been instructed to take the necessary steps to implement these projects. (INN)
