Revanth Reddy emphasises District Collectors’ role in building public trust

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has emphasised that it is the responsibility of district collectors to instill public confidence in the government’s schemes and programs.

Speaking at the Collectors’ Conference held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, which included ministers, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, and secretaries of all departments, the Chief Minister highlighted the crucial role of collectors in effective governance.

Revanth Reddy noted that Telangana previously had only ten districts, which were managed efficiently. He pointed out that despite the reduction in the size and population of districts, the powers and responsibilities of collectors have not changed. He questioned why 33 collectors today cannot achieve what ten collectors did in the past.

The Chief Minister urged collectors to demonstrate their individual thinking, efficiency, and performance. He reminded them that this is a people’s government, and it is their duty to ensure that the schemes and programs implemented by the government gain public trust. He directed collectors to resolve applications received during the weekly Prajavani sessions promptly. He stated that resolving issues at the district level would reduce the number of petitions reaching the Prajabhavan in Hyderabad, reflecting the efficiency of their work.

Revanth Reddy emphasised that the collectors are responsible for transparently implementing the six government guarantees announced. He reiterated that the government’s goal is to ensure that every eligible person in the state benefits from these guarantees.

The Chief Minister also reminded that the government has provided an opportunity for those eligible for the Gruha Jyoti and Mahalakshmi Gas Cylinder schemes to correct their Aadhaar, ration card, gas connection number, and electricity service numbers if the schemes do not apply to them. He instructed that public service centres should be operational in all district and mandal headquarters and, if necessary, service centres should be set up in collectorates on the days Prajavani sessions are held. He also directed that all pending Dharani applications be resolved by August 15.

Highlighting the importance of women’s self-help groups, Revanth Reddy announced that the state government gives utmost priority to these groups. He mentioned that there are currently 64 lakh members in the state, and a special drive should be conducted to increase this number to 1 crore. The government’s aim is to transform women into entrepreneurs, he stated.

The Chief Minister also suggested that government lands, tanks, and ponds in all districts should be protected from encroachment. He recommended using technological advancements like geo-tagging and integrating with the command control centre to monitor government lands. He announced the decision to create a digital health profile for every individual in the state and instructed that ration cards should not be linked with Aarogyasri cards. He directed that steps be taken to ensure everyone in Telangana receives Aarogyasri cards.Additionally, Revanth Reddy acknowledged the demand for training and certification of RMPs and PMPs providing medical services in villages. He suggested that officials study this demand and issue relevant orders accordingly. (INN)
