Hyderabad: On the occasion of World Tribal Day, BRS MLA T Harish Rao extended his greetings to the tribal and indigenous communities. He remarked that the fragrance of blossoming flowers is now filling the lives that were once withered by destruction.
Harish Rao credited the previous BRS government for fulfilling the decades-old demands of the tribal communities.
He highlighted that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has addressed three major demands of the tribals: self-governance, increased reservations, and land rights for podu farmers. Rao stated that the democratic aspirations of the tribals encapsulated in the slogan “Our rule in our village” have been realised by converting 2,471 hamlets and tandas into gram panchayats.Furthermore, he noted that Telangana has set an example for the nation by implementing 10% reservations for tribals in the education and employment sectors, thereby increasing their participation. Harish Rao also mentioned that KCR has honoured the slogan of Komaram Bheem, “Jal, Jangal, Zameen” (Water, Forest, Land). (INN)
