Delegates from all across the country are attending the workshop. Prof. (Retd) Aloysius Sequeira, National Institute of Technology (NITK), Karnataka is conducting the workshop.
‘With 4.5 crores students, India has a vast and elaborate education system but numbers can also be a weakness. Many students join colleges with no hope and or aspiration for getting a placement. The economic cost of the educational system failing to provide students with core competencies for gainful employment is $175 billion a year’, he said. ‘The demographic dividend is a once in a lifetime opportunity but it will give return only if the work force is skilled and productive. Educational institutions will have to be rebuilt and this is where the institutional development plan comes in’, he further added.
The goal of the workshop is to grasp the strategic importance of planning in higher educational institutions (HEIs), recognize the intent and core values of the institutions, get acquainted with goal settings, identity key performances areas, formulate strategies and policies, understand the implementation and monitor the control processes and develop skills for drafting institutional development plans.
