Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall lashed parts of Hyderabad on Friday afternoon, causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Manikonda, Mehedipatnam, Tolichowki, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Masab Tank, and Luckykapul were among the areas that witnessed heavy downpours.
The Telangana Development Planning Society (TDPS) has predicted more heavy rainfall in Hyderabad over the next two hours and urged residents to take precautions. Motorists have also been advised to exercise caution.
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several districts in Telangana, including Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Siddipet, Peddapalli, and Mancherial, over the next two hours.
Hyderabad experienced heavy rainfall on Thursday night, lasting for three hours. This caused widespread waterlogging and traffic chaos, with commuters facing severe inconvenience as vehicles were stranded in knee-deep water on several roads.
According to the TDPS, Secunderabad recorded the highest rainfall at 74.8 mm, followed by Musheerabad (73 mm), Ramachandrapuram (68.5 mm), and Kukatpally (64.8 mm). Sangareddy district received the highest rainfall in the state at 93.5 mm, followed by Nagarkurnool district at 87 mm.
The Hyderabad Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Telangana until August 17th. Light to moderate rain is also expected in several districts currently under a yellow alert.
