Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that the Telangana Talli statue will be unveiled at the Secretariat on December 9. The event is expected to attract a large crowd and will be significant for the state.
Today, CM Revanth Reddy performed the Bhumi Puja to begin the installation of the statue at the Secretariat. Although the Deputy Chief Minister and some other ministers were absent due to prior commitments, the ceremony was conducted with traditional rituals and Vedic hymns.
In his speech, the Chief Minister criticised the previous BRS government for neglecting the Telangana Talli statue during its time in power despite claiming to make Telangana a model state. He praised Sonia Gandhi for creating the Telangana state in 2014, a milestone he believes should be celebrated.
Revanth Reddy also pointed out that the previous government restricted public access to Pragati Bhavan, unlike his administration, which opened Praja Bhavan to the people. He highlighted that although the previous government had a large budget, it did not invest in the Telangana Talli statue.
Additionally, Revanth Reddy announced plans to install a statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in front of the Secretariat. He dismissed any controversy over this decision, emphasising that it had the support of intellectuals.
The unveiling of the Telangana Talli statue on December 9 is important as it marks the anniversary of when the process to form Telangana began in 2009 under the UPA government. The CM said the statue, designed by the JNTU Fine Arts department, will represent the mother of Telangana in a way that connects with the people.R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and several other officials attended today’s Bhumi Puja ceremony.
