SC admits petition against defection of Congress MLAs

Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Wednesday admitted a petition for hearing that challenged the defection of Congress MLAs into TRS in Telangana. The Congress had challenged the defections and wanted the defected MLAs to be disqualified.

The apex court issued notices to the TS Assembly Speaker and the defected MLAs to submit their responses within three weeks.

It may be noted that the Congress MLA Sampat Kumar had approached the HC challenging the defections and then knocked the SC doors over the defections. Eight Congress MLAs defected to TRS during the last two years. (INN)
