Hyderabad: The Telangana government has reduced the application fee for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
Candidates applying to take either Paper-1 or Paper-2 will now pay Rs. 750, down from the previous Rs. 1,000. For those opting to appear for both papers, the fee has been lowered by Rs. 1,000, bringing it down from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 1,500. Additionally, applicants who did not qualify in the recent TET exam will be exempted from this fee.
The TET application process, initially set to begin on the 5th of this month, was delayed due to technical reasons but finally opened at 11 p.m. last night. Candidates can find further details on application fees and related guidelines on the official website of the School Education Department. The Congress government had earlier announced in August, as part of the job calendar release, that TET exams would be conducted twice a year, fulfilling this commitment with a second notification this year following the May exam.
For eligibility, D.Ed. graduates may apply for Paper-1, while B.Ed. graduates are eligible for Paper-2. TET certification is a mandatory requirement for in-service teachers aiming for promotion to the position of School Assistant, leading many in-service teachers to register for the exam.Since TET’s inception, exams have been conducted nine times, with the tenth scheduled for January. Since Telangana achieved statehood, six TET exams have been conducted, including last year’s May session. (INN)
